It's time for a little rest and recuperation. After a tumultuous schoolyear culminating in coordinated attacks upon both Hogwarts and London, magical citizens could certainly use a break. Summer is upon us, and while the immediate danger has passed, not every creature is taking the summer off.

Summer Update: Part Four
August, Summer Festival, Reminders and More!
Opening Up AugustMembers are now free to post up to and including August 31st, and remain able to post in late June (on or after the 19th, post-plot events) and all of July. The entire Summer is now open and available for play! Please rely on news articles to inform the current world climate.
Annual Summer Festival
For roleplay enrichmentFollowing the success of last year's Summer Festival, coordinated by Leaky Cauldron owners, Mr. and Mrs. Neville Longbottom, students returning to Hogwarts and their parents are invited to join the festivities once again! Most businesses in the alley are on board with sales events, giveaways and free samples from various food establishments. Dancing and live music can be found at the Northeastern end of the alley. More information about the Summer Festival can be found here!
Please note that this is not an admin-run event. The details on the event page can be used for your fodder and threading purposes, and are meant to encourage and enrich your threads during this time. It's an opportunity for students of all ages to mingle, meet, and have a great time before their next journey on the Hogwarts Express.
Upcoming in the News! From now on, we will be using these updates to start teasing bits of upcoming news so that you know a little bit of what to look forward to (or look out for)!
The Daily Prophet checks in on Yatton and reports on the International Confederation of Wizards' summer summit. Commentary on Ravensby's progress as Minister, and a little about Inferi...
OTMsKeep in mind that OTMs will be valid for the entire summer period! That means IC June 20th-August 31st will be eligible for OTM nomination. We will begin collecting nominations starting July 20th and nominations will be due when we time shift into September. All nominations should be sent to @Cassandra so keep an eye on...
September ETA, Closing SummerWe hope your summer has been a great one (and entirely free of dark wizards and risen corpses)! We look forward to beginning HFTA's second school year in September. We're starting along our next major plot arc now. Have you noticed any clues?
Our goal for this time shift is July 27th
New Class System--First Steps!Kris has been hard at work adjusting our existing class systems, and we have the first step in that process ready for this update! This one is for you Professors
In preparation for the upcoming school year, teachers should please provide a syllabus of their intended instruction for each student group. To be clear, syllabi should be broken down by experience level (beginner, intermediate/OWL, and advanced/NEWT). If you would like to further break down each syllabus by student year (1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc.) you may do so, but consideration should be given for how students in different years will be working within the same classroom setting according to their experience level (i.e. first and second years may have slightly different projects, but will still be working together in the classroom, so their lessons should therefore, realistically compliment one another, or at least facilitate sharing space).
In terms of time, syllabi should, at their MOST basic, give an idea of the main focus for each month of the school year (with the final month focusing on end of year exams). Professors are invited to further break their lesson plan down week-by-week, and may go so far as to give an idea of the focus of each lesson if they wish, but this is optional.
Lesson plans may be given a more loose structure toward the beginning of the year, to be given further detail as the board progresses through time.
Lesson plans may be changed at any time as long these changes do not effect the current or previous months, as this may interfere with student fodder.
Lesson plans must be provided upon the creation of a new professor character. This will go into effect once the school year begins. Preexisting professors will have until the start of September to create and submit lesson plans to admins. This is not necessarily for approval, although admins do reserve the right to suggest changes based on what is considered age appropriate according to canon, but rather to observe that all syllabi have been completed.
