Muggle PM Outraged
By Magnus Felliprout
Leaked correspondence reveals neglect. Earlier this week, an anonymous source contacted Prophet reporters with an exclusive look at confidential documents circulating within the highest levels of the Ministry. These documents have now been verified as authentic correspondence from the desk of current Muggle Prime Minister Inaya Siyal, addressed to recently-assassinated Minister for Magic, Melloc Crowther. The letter, which appears to have been sent by owl--a method of mail delivery unusual in Muggle circles--expresses Ms Siyal's disappointment at Minister Crowther’s failure to maintain regular contact and reiterates a desire to be kept informed of the evolving situation in wizarding Britain.
Following the declaration of a State of Emergency and the institution of leadership-by-council, the Wizengamot appointed Sestinius Dorrelby, a senior member, to the position of Muggle Liaison. The implications of Mr Dorrelby's title suggest a responsibility for keeping Muggle leadership abreast of developments within the wizarding world, a task formerly delegated to the office of Minister for Magic. It has become apparent, however, that there has been no communication with the Muggle Prime Minister since Minister Crowther’s assassination in late January; this therefore calls into question the efficacy of procedures currently being employed by Mr Dorrelby. Post Returned En Masse
By Freya Blackwood
Hogwarts bound owls rebound. In a shocking turn of events, owls en route to individuals currently residing within the barrier surrounding Hogwarts and Hogsmeade have started returning with their letters and parcels as yet undelivered. The earliest of these incidents occurred late yesterday evening and reports have been coming in with increasing frequency throughout the night; it now appears that no correspondence sent to the castle over the past two days is likely to reach its destination. Cordelia Wrenn, a small business owner based in Croydon, was among the first to provide comment. “I’d sent a letter to my sister over in Hogsmeade and it’s come back entirely unopened. I don’t think the owl even got through that barrier thing.”
Ministry officials have confirmed that they are aware of these occurrences and state that an investigation is well underway. Public sentiment, however, is far from calm; many are convinced that this most recent incident signifies an escalation of the barrier situation, and are calling for immediate government action.
